These homeowners moved from the Black Hills of South Dakota to the heart of Denver to immerse themselves in the bustling city atmosphere. The loft they settled on was in an ideal downtown location, but its dark and dated interiors were far from city-chic. I incorporated a lighter, brighter color palette throughout and removed the heavy stone fireplace and columns that once adorned the walls and replaced them with sleek modern tiles. Walnut built-ins throughout the home were added to create a warmth in the space and display the couple’s collectibles. Subtle nods to their rustic sometimes steampunk style were included with the addition of their coffee table and accessories that created the perfect juxtaposition with all the clean, modern finishes. The master bathroom underwent a dramatic transformation, and was named the Best Bathroom Remodel at the 2018 ASID Colorado Crystal Awards.
